Investigations & Confidentiality Policy
How confidentiality is handled during security-related incident inquiries.
Last updated: August 2026
Purpose & Scope
Delivering our security services sometimes requires us to look into an incident — for example, a break-in, theft, alarm activation, or breach of site procedure — at a client's premises. This policy explains how we handle confidentiality during that kind of incident-related inquiry. It does not describe a standalone private-investigation service; it applies to inquiries arising directly from the security services we provide.
Confidentiality Principles
Information gathered in the course of an incident inquiry — including witness accounts, footage, and findings — is treated as confidential. Access is limited to personnel directly involved in the response or inquiry, the client, and, where necessary, our management and legal or insurance advisers.
Handling of Evidence & Records
Where footage, logs, or written statements are gathered in connection with an incident, we handle them carefully to preserve their integrity — including noting when and by whom they were collected — so that they remain reliable if needed for a client's internal process, an insurance claim, or a law enforcement referral.
Disclosure
We disclose information gathered during an inquiry only to the client concerned, to law enforcement or regulators where legally required, or where necessary to protect life, property, or our legal rights. We do not disclose incident information to unrelated third parties.
Staff Obligations
Officers and supervisors involved in an incident inquiry are required to record and report findings accurately and honestly, and to maintain confidentiality about the matter outside the reporting channels described in this policy. See also our Code of Ethics and Whistleblower Policy.
